Pretty interesting. You ride a lot faster and further than the average person…..

In the South we’d say daamn! (with two syllables). Other than having your wreck I hope your transition is going well and I wish you a speedy recovery from the wreck.

Hi Pete and Pat,
It is fun checking up on you while I am in Japan. I actually have a computer I can get on once in a while while I am here. I read about your crash!!!! I hope you are feeling less pain. Very interesting Data especially the number of seats, pedals and chains! How about the number of car miles Pat drove? Any idea?

Hi Marsha!
Actually, Pat did keep track of the car miles. I just forgot to add it to this entry…until now. I just added it and the total miles is 17711. We did a lot of shuttling back and forth to and from events in it, I guess!

Interesting that after a total ascent of over 71 VERTICAL MILES your net change in potential energy is exactly 0. For a ride like that you need a trip computer that measures your ascent in terms of “layers of the atmosphere”. (…man, I thought I was never going to make it out of that mesosphere…)
Cool stats Peter!

I’ll be your token friend-with-diabetes and ask… average blood sugar? lowest/highest? number of infusion set changes? A1c before and after?
And the big PWD question: how many lancets?

Hi Pat and Pete -
Neat stats. The 71 miles of vertical elevation is especially impressive. The people who won the X prize for space travel only had to go 62 vertical miles.
Hope you are recovering from that crash!

Hi Lawrence!
Thanks for the comment on the web site!
The winners of the X prize had to do that 62 miles all at the
same time though. I think I had the wrong equipment along if I
did that 71 miles all at once!
