The coolest thing about Shaniko happened last night about 4 AM. I awoke to the sound of coyotes howling. It’s been years since I’ve heard that while I’ve been out camping.
Today we started the three hundred or so mile trek across Oregon. Our first leg takes us to Shaniko, Oregon, a small town whose population at the peak of the tourist season is 26.
