August 16: Rest day in Storm Lake, Iowa
We’re having a great and productive rest day in Storm Lake, Iowa.
This morning, we relaxed for a few hours and at 10 AM, I did a phone interview with a reporter ofr WJAG radio in Norfolk, Nebraska. It was a promotional interview for an event on August 21 at which I’ll be speaking about The Dream Tour and what we’re trying to accomplish by doing it.

Then we drove to downtown Storm Lake and stopped by the local bike shop, Lakeshore Cyclery and Fitness Center to pick up a water bottle cage to replace the one that broke a few days ago. I met Larry Godfredson, the owner. Larry was very friendly and helpful, but he was no match for his cat, Tigger. Tigger was extremely friendly, but I have to say not so helpful bicycling-wise, really. Pat doesn’t usually come into the bicycle shops with me. I’m not sure why except maybe she thinks I’ll never leave unless I know she’s in the car waiting. When I saw Tigger, I knew Pat would want to come in. She did.
After hearing about The Dream Tour, Larry sent me on my way with the water bottle cage and some water bottles, all compliments of Lakeshore Cyclery and Fitness Center. One of these years, I’m going to do the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI). I’ll make sure I do it on a year when Storm Lake is on the route so I can stop by Larry’s shop.
So there I was outside the bike shop and now the shoe was on the other foot. Instead of Pat waiting in the car so I wouldn’t spend all day in the bicycle store, she was in the store with Tigger and I was waiting outside.

Peter,
It was great to meet you and talk to you about your trip. You made front page of the Pilot-Tribune. Thank you for stopping in for an interview. Good Luck on the rest of the trip.
