July 24: Rest Day in Goshen, Indiana
I have so many relatives in Goshen, Indiana, I’m surprised I didn’t run into one when I passed through town yesterday morning.
When we arrived in Bremen, Indiana yesterday, we knew that lodging would be difficult to find. So, we decided to simply return to Goshen and stay there. Even if we had found a motel in Bremen, we knew we would have to drive back to Goshen on our rest day, so staying in Goshen made more and more sense.
Besides visiting with family that I hadn’t seen in a very long time, we visited with new friends. I met with a Goshen family who heard about The Dream Tour through my relatives and asked if we could get together to say hi. I also met with representatives at the Bayer HealthCare manufacturing facility in Mishawaka. They were kind enough to offer us a tour of the facility so I could see firsthand how the test strips for the BREEZE® meter (the meter I use) are made. It was fascinating to see how all the parts come together to make a test strip — 2.2 million of them each day!
In the evening, we visited with more family that I hadn’t seen in a long time. We all gathered for a delightful — and very filling — dinner at the Essenhaus which is a favorite local restaurant in Middlebury, Indiana.
