July 20: Findlay to Continental, Ohio
Our next Dream Tour destination is Fort Wayne, Indiana. Unfortunately, it’s a two day bicycle ride from Findlay, Ohio. So, I rode forty miles towards Fort Wayne today and I’ll do the remainder tomorrow.
The reason for doing this is we wanted to stay in Findlay another night so we could spend some time and have dinner with my cousins Craig and Jim and their families. Both of them live nearby (Craig near Detroit, Michigan and Jim in Piqua, Ohio). So, after riding to Continental, Ohio this morning (forty miles west of Findlay), Pat came and picked me up and we came back to Findlay. Tomorrow, we’ll drive out to Continental to start tomorrow’s ride. I know, it’s complicated, but it’s fairly typical for us when we’re trying to make arrangements to attend an event or meet with friends and family.

It was SO hazy this morning. I think the haze was actually from the humidity because it was very humid. When I got to Continental, I realized that my jersey was soaking wet. I waited about thirty minutes for Pat to get to Continental and pick me up. After thirty minutes of standing around, my jersey was still soaking wet.
That extra moisture is proving difficult for my infusion sites. When I finish a ride, I find that my site is barely staying in place because the moisture keeps the adhesive from sticking. If I can manage to get the site dried out, the infusion site will re-stick to my skin, but it’s a precarious time between when I stop riding and when I get totally dried off after a shower. If I catch the infusion line on something or rub the site on something, I can easily pull the whole thing out.
It’s so flat in this part of Ohio that I finished the forty mile ride in two and a half hours. That gave us some extra time today in Findlay to do some errands like laundry, an oil and filter change in the car, and some grocery shopping. While we were out doing errands, I took a picture of a “Fifth Third Bank” sign. Can someone please explain this to me? I mean, I can see being proud to be the first or maybe second Third Bank, but the fifth? Is this a bank for underachievers or something? I don’t get it.
About 4:30 today, we got a call from the lobby. Craig and Jim and families were here. We had arranged to meet them in the lobby so we could visit for a while before heading out for some dinner. By the way, we managed to meet and have dinner with another cousin of mine, Anne, and her husband Chis while we were in Cincinnati on July 18. It has been so nice to be able see them all! Arranging to meet with friends and family has proved very difficult during our travels, so we really appreciate it when we manage to make it work out.

If you get the details on the Fifth Third Bank, I’ll bet there is some displaced Southerner in the mix.

It was great seeing you both yesterday! Ride and drive safely and remember your rights and lefts. Lindsey just saw the pictures and said she wished she were there, too.
We used to have a Third Savings in Piqua, along with Fifth Third…it was somewhat confusing when trying to figure which was which. We decided to use Bank One!
Take care,
Jim, Lora and Allison
