An article about The Dream Tour

Before we left Salt Lake City on the Dream Tour, I was contacted by the editor of The Gustavus Quarterly, the alumni magazine of Gustavus Adolphus College which is the college where I did my undergraduate studies.

He said he wanted to do a story about me and The Dream Tour and also about another Gustavus graduate, Peter Nerothin, who also has type 1 diabetes and is doing his own work to show that with careful self-management of their condition, there are no limits to what people with diabetes can do.

Well, that story has finally appeared in the summer issue of The Gustavus Quarterly:

The Gustavus Quarterly, Summer 2006

The story starts on page 44.

One final note to my current employer, University Health Care at the University of Utah: Please don’t be alarmed. The story states that I work for Intel Corporation. It is true that I worked for Intel at one time, but I haven’t “jumped ship” or anything during my leave of absence.

We enjoyed the article in the Gustavus Quarterly and the comments that it has prompted among our friends. There is a lot of inerest in St. Peter and at Gustavus in your bike tour and it is a hot topic of conversation wherever we go. You’ve come a long way and we hope that it is going well for both you and Pat. Other bikers that you meet should help you through the intricacies of routes through the northeastern states. Best wishes for good weather in D. C. when you get there. M&D
