Test results
You’re not going to believe what I found sitting on the shelf of the local pharmacy in Crossett, Arkansas. It’s the home A1C test kit that I’ve been looking for a couple weeks now — since Winfield, Kansas, in fact. Every time I see a pharmacy that looks fairly well-stocked, I stop in and ask about it. I haven’t found one…until today.
When I saw this one on the shelf, I immediately asked if they had any more. No such luck. Hmmm. Should I keep this one as a collector’s item? It very well could be the last one in existence. In any case, I bought the last one.
I’ve never used one of these test kits because I have one done every three months when I visit my doctor. I followed the directions as best I could and got a result of 6.3%. I’m not sure what to think of that result because it’s higher than any result I’ve had at the doctor’s office in a very long time. Probably since I started using an insulin pump ten years ago.
Maybe there’s a reader out there with some experience with these home A1C tests. Do they tend to run high or should I believe this result?
