After much discussion with the Bayer people last week, on Monday of this week Pat and I have decided that our departure date will be March 18. I’ve always said that I wanted a “mid-March” departure and originally I was thinking the 15^th, but that’s a Wednesday. I would like to have people help me start this Dream Tour in a fitting manner, so I’d like to have people ride with me on the first day and even the second day, if anybody feels like it. For that reason, it seemed like starting on a Saturday would be better. March 11^th and March 18^th are Saturdays.

Even though I’d like to get on the road as soon as possible, March 18^th seemed like the better choice. I’ll have one more week to train, one more week to get everything organized (I can’t believe how much work it is to put a simple bike tour together!), and it also gives the Bayer people one more week to get the PR plans in place.
