The Dream Tour Route Finalized

The Dream Tour route mapLast Friday, after some conversations with Bayer, I committed to a route for The Dream Tour. Today, I put a map up on the wall and highlighted the route on it. I was so happy to be able to check this task off of my to-do list that I made Pat take a picture of me in front of the map.

The route we’re planning starts in Salt Lake City and finishes in Salt Lake City. From Salt Lake City, we’ll head south to the Utah/Arizona border. From there, it’s mostly east from there until we get to Florida. From there we head north to Maine. From Maine, we head back west through the northern states until we get to Washington. At Walla Walla, Washington, we head south through Oregon to the northeast corner of California. Unfortunately, we don’t see much of California, because we head a little bit east and mostly south until we hit highway 50. We head back east to Utah on highway 50. When we get to Milford, Utah (a city we will have gone through at the very beginning of our tour), we head back north to Salt Lake City. With any luck along the way, we’ll return to Salt Lake City sometime around mid-October. Now that I’ve described the route to you, here’s a map.

Best wishes to both you and Pat for an exciting and safe trip. We will be very interested in following your progress as you traverse the U.S.. We look forward to meeting you as you make your closest approach to your home in the state of Minnesota.

    Hey Pete,

Very excited for you! I was trying to look at the stops, cities, locations and dates that you feel you will be in during the tour. Not that you don’t have enough to do, but is it printed somewhere or will that be more of living breathing, changing kind of thing?

Also, your shaw pr firm (hard at work) had a recent question asking where to donate money. I said I think the Diabetes Foundation is where you would want money sent. Do you have a specific place to donate money for your tour or to the Diabetes foundation?

All my best if I don’t speak to you before you take off! Of course you know we all, and by that I mean, your entire family will be thinking about you as you make your way through the USA. You are an inspiration. Like Bobby Jones, Your playing the ball where it lies and then some!

Standing O for even trying and an even bigger one with a hug added in when you return. I will do my very best to make sure I have a water bottle or something for you as you pass me by. Will you be stopping for some tee? Just kidding. Anytime to chat?

    All my best!

    Craig

    Hi Craig,

Even though this tour is NOT a fund-raising tour, donations to a diabetes-related non-profit are always a good thing. There are many good ones out there. Some are local organizations and some are national, like the ADA and the JDRF.

    Hi Pete,
Just wanted you to know we will be thinking of you and wishing you a safe trip. Good luck!
This is really huge! Is there anyway to keep track of where you are through out your trip.
“May your tires stay full and your rims round” This should be quite an exciting adventure.

    Best of Luck
    Jim
